Advice for First-Time Online Vacation Home Services

So you’ve decided to bite the bullet and see what all the hype is over online rental services. Like trying anything for the first time, you may experience hesitation, stress, and feelings of anxiety, as you navigate through the unknown. But lucky for you, I am here to offer tips on making you an online renter pro!

  • Know your accommodation needs! Narrowing down your search requirements will avoid becoming overwhelmed on the website.

 

  • Get to know your host! Develop trust with your host, and get to know their approach. For example, do they respond promptly to your inquiry? Do they provide answers to your questions? Are they personable? How your host communicates should make you feel confident about booking though them. Also, it’s always good to send a direct message to your potential host FIRST, as opposed to a straight booking request. This just adds a personal touch and can start that guest/host relationship off on the right foot, with a nice initial first impression. (This could also benefit in possible flexibility with your stay, such as check-in and out times, for example).

 

  • Choose carefully! Do your homework before booking by checking out as much information as possible about the host, accommodations, location, amenities, fees, policies and reviews. 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Ask questions, but don’t be needy! As a host, I like to build rapport, and be conversational. I will go out of my way to be helpful! I appreciate questions, so ask away! BUT there is a difference in asking questions and being demanding. Try not to lay out 100 different demands and expectations. Being high-maintenance is not the best approach; instead simple, practical requests are welcomed.

 

  • Relax, have fun, and be respectful! Upon arriving, we as hosts realize you may be coming in from a long day of traveling. We open our home to you with open arms, and want nothing more than for you to enjoy your stay! In addition, treat our home like you would your own….hosts are especially appreciative of this!

4 Tips for Throwing a Safe 4th of July Party

The 4th of July is the time to honor our country, throw a patriotic party with friends, and watch some breathtaking fireworks. It is a great time to relax by the pool, have a couple drinks, and hang out with friends and family. Along with throwing a 4th of July party comes responsibility and safety concerns to consider. Below are a few tips to help keep your party safe and ensure a great time.

  1. Hire a Lifeguard

If you will be hanging around a pool or lake, hiring a lifeguard will be essential to a safe party. Especially if there will be a lot of little kids at the party, a lifeguard will be essential if anything were to go wrong.

  1. Hire Security

Did you know that you are able to hire off duty police officers to work as security at your private event? If you are planning on throwing a big party on the 4th and have a private guest list, then hiring security is a route you will want to take to make sure it remains a private and secure event.

  1. Hire a Registered Bartender

If you plan on serving alcohol at your 4th of July party then hiring a registered bartender is something you may want to consider. The registered bartender will be able to regulate how many drinks are going out to each person and will establish a safe party environment for all your guests.

  1. Stock up on Sunscreen and Water

It is important to apply sunscreen before and during an outdoor party to prevent painful sunburn for the next day. Water is also a huge must especially for parties held outside and ones that will be serving alcohol. Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of dehydration, so stocking up on water above all will provide a safe party environment.

SOFI B. HOSTED ESTATE DEBUT AND NETWORKING EVENT

CARMEL, May 18, 2015—Sofi B., an event venue and vacation rental company, located in West Carmel, held their estate debut May 18, 2015. Angela Khan, owner of Sofi B., as well as her team, hosted local event planners and small business owners to network and receive guided tours of the estate. Attendees were served complimentary cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres from Sullivan’s Steakhouse.

“I have chaired several philanthropic events here at the estate and wanted to share the blessing of God’s work with others who host events giving back to our local community,” Ms. Khan stated to Mr. Mayor Brainard, who also attended the event.

This was the first estate debut and networking event, with many more to follow. Networking events will take place every other month on Monday evenings. Each event will highlight a particular industry, and the August event will focus on non-profits.
